T.O. "blames the OC & Romo"

Terrell Owens has called out Jason Garrett and Tony Romo through his Twitter account.

neither ws i, blame the OC & romo!! but i'm happy 2 b where i am but i miss the other guys tht were & r true teammates!!

Now that T.O. is playing for "North America's Team," it's not surprising that he doesn't account any accountability for anything that goes wrong.

Not that Garrett and Romo are perfect, because they definitely are not, but T.O. still hasn't learned how to accept responsibility for his misgivings.

Cowboys still looking for trade partner for Ellis

After sending Greg Ellis home on Thursday so that he won't get injured, the Cowboys continue to seek trade partners for him, according to Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

If they are unsuccessful in trading Ellis, they will cut him.

Ellis is due to earn a base salary of $4.15 million in 2009 and a $1.5 million guarantee.

If they trade him, the Cowboys save $5.65 million towards the cap. If they release him, they will save $4.15 towards the cap but still owe Ellis the $1.5 million guarantee.

As Hill points out, it doesn't make sense for a team to trade for 34-year-old pass rusher and his hefty salary. It would be more cost-efficient to wait for the Cowboys to release him and then sign him for less money.

However, Hill names New England, Miami, Cincinnati and Tampa Bay as possible trade destinations.

Last year, Ellis had eight sacks.

Anthony Spencer, the team's first-round pick in 2007, will start opposite DeMarcus Ware at OLB.

Schwapp released from jail

Dallas Cowboys rookie fullback Asaph Schwapp was arrested on Friday for trying to board a plane with a throwing star and knife.

According to Jason Trahan of the Dallas Morning News, Schwapp was released from jail after posting a $1500 bond.

Schwapp was undrafted out of Notre Dame.

You would think a guy from Notre Dame would know better than try to board a plane with weapons, even if they are for martial arts.

Roy Williams questions the questioning

Cowboys receiver Roy Williams isn't sure why people question whether or not he is a number-one receiver.

"I don't know why," Williams said. "I guess I've got to go out there and prove to people that I can play this game. Just because I have a star on the side of my helmet doesn't mean I can't play football now."

Williams goes on to say that people didn't question him in Detroit, where he "was the guy." Technically, the reason he was traded was because Calvin Johnson "was the guy."

But, to be fair, Williams came in mid-season when Tony Romo was hurt.

With a full off-season under his belt as well as being "the guy" with T.O. gone, Williams will have the opportunity to "prove to people that I can play this game."

Leon Lett graduates from college

Former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Leon Lett has completed 25 credits over the past three semesters at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.

Lett played his college ball at Emporia State in Kansas, but he never received his degree.

"And now," he said, the pride in his voice discernable from 1,000 miles away, "I'm walking. It's been a long time coming."

Andre Patterson, who coached Lett in 2000 in Dallas and is currently UNLV's head coach, connected Lett with an academic advisor at UNLV.

Patterson says that Lett "would be good at" coaching, but that "he couldn't do it without that piece of paper."

Nick Folk has hip surgery

Per Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News, Cowboys kicker Nick Folk had hip surgery yesterday and is expected to begin light kicking in eight weeks.

Dr. Marc Phillipon, the same doctor that performed Alex Rodriguez's hip surgery, performed the operation.

"They said the worst that could happen is that I'd be 100 percent by the beginning of training camp, so training camp might be just me getting my legs under me," Folk said. "It just kind of sucks that it has to happen now, but we've got time to get it ready."

Folk, who made the Pro Bowl in his rookie season (2007), has made 46 of 53 field goals in his two seasons. The Cowboys drafted USC kicker David Buehler in the fifth round of this year's draft.

Cowboys practice facility collapses

This weekend, the Dallas Cowboys was hosting their three-day rookie mini-camp.

Saturday afternoon, a thunderstorm collapsed the Dallas Cowboys practice facility. Twelve were injured.

According to Dr. Paul Pepe, chairman of the emergency department at Parkland Memorial Hospital, none of the injuries appear to be life threatening.

However, Joe DeCamillas, who is the son-in-law of Dan Reeves, suffered a broken back.

"It's just lucky and fortunate and a miracle really he's not paralyzed," Reeves told Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News.

None of the Cowboys players appeared to suffer serious injuries. Cowboys fifth-round pick David Buehler, who thinks he suffered the worst injuries of Cowboys' players, required stitches on his knee and has a concussion.

"My initial thought was, how many people are dead in this? I thought I was the lucky one. Guys were in shock," Buehler said, "and very thankful."

Sunday's practice has been canceled.

Cowboys take Jason Williams with their first pick

Yesterday, the Dallas Cowboys traded out of the 51st overall pick, which would have been their first overall pick.

Instead, the Cowboys first pick came today with the 69th overall pick.

With that pick, they've selected Western Illinois OLB Jason Williams.

According to Scout.com, Williams is the 11th-ranked OLB in this year's draft class. Williams forced six fumbles in 2008 and is the NCAA all-time leader in forced fumbles (14).

No offer from Jets for Austin

Last week, Cowboys restricted free agent receiver Miles Austin visited with the New York Jets.

It was believed that the Jets would be offering Austin a contract. However, Rich Cimini of the Daily News is reporting that the Jets won't be making an offer to Austin.

Had the Jets offered Austin a contract, and the Cowboys did not match the offer, they would have received the Jets' second-round pick (number 52 overall) as compensation.

Patrick Turner to visit Cowboys next week

The Dallas Cowboys will visit with USC wide receiver Patrick Turner at the end of next week.

Turner had 10 touchdowns for USC last year and is a big target (6'5").

He is projected to be drafted in the late rounds of this year's draft.

Cowboys invite three more LBs to visit next week

The Dallas Cowboys have invited three additional linebackers to participate in workouts next week.

The NFL allows 30 non-area prospects to visit with teams.

The additional prospects that will visit the Cowboys next week are Ohio State's Marcus Freeman, South Carolina's Jasper Brinkley and Northern Illinois' Larry English. They had already invited Richmond defensive end Lawrence Sidbury and Western Illinois' linebacker Jason Williams.

The Cowboys will host 12 prospects on Monday for "Dallas Day."

Miles Austin visits Jets

Per Dave Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger, Dallas Cowboys restricted free agent Miles Austin visited with the Jets today. The Jets told Austin that they intend on making him an offer.

As a restricted free agent, the Cowboys would have seven days to match any offer that the Jets make. If the Cowboys choose not to match the offer sheet, the Jets would have to compensate the Cowboys with their second-round pick (number 52 overall).

The Cowboys' first pick (since the 20th overall pick went to Detroit as part of the Roy Williams trade) is the 51st pick.

Tim McMahon of the Dallas Morning News argues that a low-cost option to replace Austin (if the Cowboys don't match an offer by the Jets) would be to sign ex-Jaguars receiver Matt Jones.

Matt Jones, who was QB for Arkansas and a Jaguars first-round pick, was arrested for violating the terms of probation from a previous felony cocaine charge that was reduced.

If Jones can avoid a lengthy suspension by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, he might be a viable option. Jones had the best (football) year of his life in 2008 with 65 receptions for 761 yards (both career-highs).

Cowboys' pre-season announced

The 2009 NFL pre-season schedule was released today.

The Dallas Cowboys will kick off their pre-season with a prime-time matchup in Oakland on August 13th. The Cowboys will host the Raiders on Thanksgiving.

In week two of the pre-season, the Cowboys will host the Tennessee Titans in their first-ever game at their new stadium. The game will be played on August 21st.

On August 29th, the Cowboys host the San Francisco 49ers. They close out the pre-season in Minnesota on September 4th.
